Adding apps to iOS via VPP token

Now that the Marketing iPhone is setup, you may get requests to add apps to the phone.

This needs to be done using VPP tokens on ABM (Apple business manager), and then security group assignment on Endpoint manager

Part 1

1.Firstly, navigate to ABM and sign in

2.Once in, select 'Apps and Books' in the side bar

3.Search for the app requested using the search bar

4.Click the app you're trying to add

5.On the right hand side, click 'Assign to' and select 'EMPIRIC STUDENT PROPERTY PLC'

6.Change the quantity field to 1 (Or however many are needed)

7.Click 'Get'

You can now head over to Endpoint Manager

Part 2

You'll need to sync the VPP token before your apps will show up in endpoint manager

1.In Endpoint manager, select 'Tenant Administration'

2.Select 'Connectors and Tokens'

3.Select 'Apple VPP Tokens'

4.Next to Empiricadmin@empiric.co.uk entry, click the 3 dots icon on the right

5.Select 'Sync'

The Sync will take roughly 10 minutes to complete. Once this is done, proceed to Part 3

Part3

We now need to assign the app to our security group

1.Select 'Apps'

2.Select 'iOS/iPadOS' from the sidebar

3.Locate and select the app you've assigned in the Part 1 (Note: the app type should be 'iOS volume purchase program app')

4.Click 'Properties'

5.Where it says 'Assignments', click the Edit button (To the left of assignments)

6.Under 'Required', select 'Add Group'

7.Search and check the box for the security group you'd like to assign (e.g INT_iOS_MKNG is the security group for Marketing iPhones)

8.Click 'Select' at the bottom of the page

9.Click 'Review + Save'

10.Click 'Save'

When the device next syncs, the app will be installed automatically
